Top Restaurants in North Palm Beach

NPB Restaurant Reviews
This is an original post from our former blog, Blogging Jupino in July of 2008. We love to eat out with friends and family. We dine out often and have visited many restaurants in the area. (See our previous postings.) Although, when I was reading the Restaurant Reviews in the Palm Beach Post, I realized there are many places I haven’t tried. So, I’m now on a mission to try some of them.
Since there are so many to choose from, I decided to share with you the highest rated reviews (restaurants listed are all rated A for Food and A for Service) in the Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens and Juno Beach areas. (Some I have already visited and shared my thoughts in blue.) Try them out for yourself and let me know what you think. I’ll be sure to share my reviews in later postings.

Best Kept Secret in Palm Beach Gardens
Anyone that knows me, knows I have a passion for food. Although not a professional by any means, I love to cook. In fact, I like everything about food. I enjoy cooking classes and love to experiment in the kitchen (thankfully, my husband and children are quite forgiving!). My bookshelves are filled with cooking magazines, books and recipes. With that said, it is safe to say that dining out is undoubtedly something I thoroughly enjoy.
So, when a sister agent told me about the Marble Slab Creamery, I had no problem making the drive to the Shoppes at Midtown in Palm Beach Gardens for an ice cream treat. Midtown is such a great place to be. We have done quite a bit of business there and continue to see it as a great place to live and/or invest. The local retail shops, eateries and restaurants attract the business professionals during the day and the trendy, hip crowd in the evening.
You’ll find the Marble Slab Creamery next to Pizza Fusion. I have to admit, I had never heard of it before. I’ve been to Coldstone Creamery and without a doubt, I was hooked at first bite. But, I have to say that after my visit, The Marble Slab has become my number one choice. I met the owner, Theresa and she definitely made the experience a great one. In talking, we found our favorite ice cream to be the strawberry shortcake sundae. I told her I was turned onto it at Coldstone Creamery. She diplomatically shook her head in agreement, smiled and explained that she can make it even better and asked if she could make the sundae the way she likes it. Not a problem, run with it!
And that she did. She added her special touch, packaged it a little differently, and added the best tasting ice cream (it tasted just like birthday cake…yummmeee!). It was a home run. Mostly, I appreciated Theresa’s sincere customer service and making the trip enjoyable. When you get a chance, stop in, say hello to Theresa and ask her to whip up a Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. We like hearing about everyone’s experience. Feel free to rate your experience by commenting below.
Lilly Pulitzer Now Open at Palm Beach Gardens Mall
I was at the mall last weekend and noticed that the Lilly Pulitzer store is now open. Located next to Victoria’s Secret with a beautiful display of prints that are so familiar to us all in Florida. What caught my attention most was the little trail of palm trees that meandered from the store to the atrium where a Lilly-like jeep was displayed. The jeep was covered in pretty green and pink floral prints and was displayed with some of Lilly’s new line of clothing specifically designed for A Colorful Cause.
Lilly Pulitzer has partnered with nine American starlets. All mothers, each celebrity designed a look for women and children. Proceeds are donated to fight epidermolysis bullosa, a devastating skin disease. Celebrity designers included Gwyneth Paltrow, Bridget Moynahan, Angie Harmon, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Catherine Bell, Brooke Shields, Marcia Cross, Debra Messing and Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon.

Tracking A Real Estate Investor
Not too long ago, I would have many friends, neighbors and coworkers calling me and following me to see where I would buy next. As an investor, I was always looking to see where the best “preconstruction” deals were and how I could be the first in line to get the best picks. Sometimes I would pay people to stand in line. On at least one occasion I hired someone to sleep overnight while waiting in line for the games to begin the next morning.
We began this journey at Tuscany, a subdivision in Abacoa. That was a lark. In the beginning, all I wanted was one piece of investment property. The next thing I know we had close to 50 properties. After Tuscany, the list goes something like this…Botanica, Harbour Oaks, Antigua, Traditions, Harborage, the Edge, Midtown, Martinique, Mallory Creek, Canterbury, Astor, Boca Rio and on and on we went.
I became friendly with the sales people from most of the developers and that gave me an extra advantage from time to time. At the peak of the buying frenzy, I remember going to one “lottery” and there were 4,000 people lined up at 8:00am, each holding a cashiers check for $40,000.00. We were there to get one of 120 units. Everyone was going crazy. They picked names out of a hat and I got picked early. Everyone was told that if they got picked, they would only be allowed to purchase one unit. Our sales person allowed us to buy four units without a hitch. It’s good to have contacts!
I have learned more about buying investment property in the last 5 years than what most people learn in a lifetime. I haven’t stopped buying. As a matter of fact, I’m aggressively looking for great deals today. I recently picked up three units in Jupiter, preconstruction that will not be completed until the end of this year. The great thing about these units are this…they won’t be done until the end of the year and they may be the best deals I ever made…so far.
The phone has stopped ringing and the knocks stopped knocking. Where are all of my friends now? It’s funny how quick things change. But, investing in real estate is something only for those who have the stomach for it and in the case of the current market…deep pockets. If you believe in long term investing, you have to believe in real estate. I’m not sure if we have hit bottom yet, but I’m not waiting to find out before I buy my next few units.
I was on the phone today negotiating with a developer for four more units. I may get lucky and pick these up to add to the portfolio, I may not. One thing is for sure, it’s a buyer’s market and I’M A BUYER!
You may not be ready to buy and that’s understandable. If you would like to follow me on my searches and purchases, let me know. I will be more than happy to let you in on my purchases. You can decide for yourself if you think I’m doing well and whether or not you would follow. Give me a call or send a quick e-mail and I will fill you in on my latest buys.
Whether you decide to rent or buy, always consult the advice of a Realtor®. You will want a Realtor with strong negotiating skills backed with a long history of buying experience. A Realtor® who can put his money where his mouth is.
Happy hunting and e-mail me to hear about my investment picks.

Both located in Palm Beach Gardens, III Forks at Midtown PGA and Amazonia Brazillian Grill in Legacy Place were both listed as restaurants worth checking out. See our review of III Forks. We haven’t returned there, but we have heard nothing but great reviews from friends and acquaintances. Check out Palm Beach Post critic, Charles Passey’s review of Amazonia.

Black Friday In Jupiter, Florida
My sister and I would kick off our holiday shopping on Black Friday. It was a tradition that lived on for years until I moved to Florida in 2001. This year we will be reinstating our shopping tradition in Jupiter, Florida. This will be the first year that we celebrate Thanksgiving with my mother, sister and her husband here in sunny Florida.
Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving. The retail industry claims it is the biggest shopping day of the year. It is the day that can bring many retailers out of the red and into the black in terms of revenue. Also, a big indicator of what retailers can expect for the remainder of the holiday shopping season.
So, I wanted to do my homework to be prepared for our big shopping day. I went online to search for the latest information on Black Friday. Whoa! I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I came across websites established for the sole purpose of providing information for Black Friday.
Here’s what I found…
- Black Friday 2007 - Claims to be the Official Black Friday 2007 Website. This site is pretty loaded. You can subscribe to their mailing list. Categories include Adscans, Online Deals, Message Boards, Store Hours, create a shopping list and more. Click on the Features category and you will get a list of the Best and Worst Deals and Most Popular Deals.
- Black Friday@ Gotta Deal.com – Lots of information including the latest news about Black Friday. The Black Friday FAQs are helpful. Most Wanted Items was not available when I checked.
- BlackFriday.info – Pretty straightforward stuff here.
- BlackFriday.net – Simplified here with ads and codes.
Each site had a long list of stores that provided adscans and coupons/deals. Some sites list more than others so you may need to view a few of them.
Check out the Palm Beach Post. They are providing helpful tips each day in the paper and Thursday’s Accent section will have a complete list of store hours and events. The Palm Beach Gardens Mall will text message deals at the mall. Text 97904 and receive messages about giveaways and deals! Text “Save” to WMart (96278) for Wal-Mart shoppers and “GO” to sams1 (72671) for Sam’s Club.
Happy shopping! Know of another website not listed here? Let us know.
